Once again, we saw some massive scoring performances in the last week of MIAA basketball.
This week's award recipients include our first 40-point game honoree of the season, plus a handful of other 30-point outbursts.
Coaches and players can submit nominations by emailing Ethan Fuller at ethan.fuller@basketballjournal.com or by messaging him on Twitter/X (@ethman43).
Here are this week’s five standouts:
Stella Criniti, Lexington
Class of 2025, 5-7 guard
NCAA: Skidmore
Criniti erupted for 30 points on Tuesday, leading the Minutemen to a 66-58 victory against Melrose.
Ava Orlando, Notre Dame (Hingham)
Class of 2025, 5-7 guard
NCAA: Bentley
Orlando simply went ballistic last Monday, scoring 43 points and dishing seven assists in an important, 85-72 nonleague win against Central Catholic. A remarkable 30 of those points came in the first half. Orlando then came back with 19 points to help the Cougars defeat Malden Catholic, 67-47.
Engelyz Bingham, Lynn Tech
Class of 2025, guard
Bingham used a 21-point first half, plus a few more buckets in the second, to surpass 1,000 career points in the Tigers' 60-18 win last Monday against Nashoba Tech. She joins her father Corey, the Lynn Tech boys coach, as 1,000-point scorers at the school.
Audrey Amaral, St. Mary (Westfield)
Class of 2027, guard
Amaral exploded for 34 points last Monday, helping St. Mary earn a 55-34 road win against Commerce.
Molly Trahan, Reading
Class of 2025, 5-9 guard
Trahan fired in 32 points for the Rockets in Tuesday's 58-29 win over Watertown. She then contributed 16 points on Friday against Winchester, helping Reading reach an 8-2 season start.
Other notable performances: Several of the MIAA's stars continued shining with their respective teams. Kat Cheesebro dropped 31 in Thursday's win against Greater New Bedford. ... Bishop Feehan sharpshooter Maddy Steel logged 25-point and 29-point efforts in wins against Walpole and Needham. ... Kailey Sullivan laid down three 20-plus-point games in a 3-0 week for Foxboro. ... Naya Annigeri hit 20 points twice in big victories for Medfield. ... It was another big week for Swampscott freshman Anna Kanders, who posted 28 points in Tuesday's win against Salem. ... North Quincy freshman Jen Xue caught fire for 28 points (seven 3s) against Plymouth South. ... Muji Vader hit 22 and 23 points in two wins for Minuteman. ... North Andover's Sydney Rogers collected 20 points and 10 rebounds in the Scarlet Knights' win over Haverhill on Friday. ... Dylan Hurley's 17 points certainly mattered Tuesday, but her near-half-court buzzer-beater to beat Duxbury, 46-44, was the play of the week.
