This is my sixth year covering MIAA girls basketball in some capacity. It’s the most uncertain I’ve felt about the state hierarchy since the statewide tournament debuted in 2021-22.
Two teams clearly stand above the rest at the start of this winter, but after that, things get puzzling. Some of the traditional powers lost significant talent to graduation or prep transfers, while other breakout teams from last winter look ready to build on their successes.
Is there a changing of the guard happening in MIAA? Or will the usual strongholds win out with talent pipelines and veteran coaching? That’s one major storyline I’m watching.
Here’s how I view the top 10 teams entering the winter.
